Kevin Obi – former SVP for Digital, NBC Universal International

Kevin Obi was Senior Vice President for Digital Businesses at NBC Universal International, which is the global media & entertainment subsidiary of GE, up till December 2008. Based in London, Mr Obi was responsible for starting up and running a new business unit to develop NBC Universal's mobile and web assets in international markets outside the USA. This included international expansion of hulu, the award winning internet video-on-demand service and iVillage the world’s leading women’s portal.
   
Kevin Obi and his team also led international JVs/alliances/acquisitions in the digital space across the business, including investments from the NBC Universal/ GE Peacock Private Equity Fund.  

Prior to his appointment in June 2007, Mr Obi was the founder of Synergy Inc, where he led executed commercial and operational improvement assignments for organisations in the telecoms and media industries, such as Orange, O2, Virgin and Global Association for Mobile Operators (GSMA). 
  
Kevin was Head of Commercial and Operational Development at Orange UK, where he was responsible for delivering cross-platform services and revenues across Orange and France Telecom in the UK. Mr Obi also worked as a Management Consultant in the telecoms and media practice of Deloitte Consulting/Braxton, on business transformation, strategic and project/programme delivery assignments for blue chip clients. He spent his early career working as an Engineer in the UK, Eastern Europe and Africa. 

Kevin Obi is a frequent speaker and panellist at telecoms and digital media conferences. He has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Engineering and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. Kevin currently acts adviser to both companies and investors in the TMT space.
