Carolyn Fairbairn, Group Director of Development and Strategy, ITV

Carolyn is Director of Group Development and Strategy at ITV plc and a member of ITV's Executive Board. She is responsible for strategy, business development, research and regulatory affairs across the ITV group, and is currently leading work within ITV on its digital strategy and public service role.

Before joining ITV, Carolyn was a partner at McKinsey & Company and leader of its UK Media Practice. From 2000-2004, she was Director of Strategy at the BBC, where she was one of the principal architects of Freeview. Carolyn has also worked in the Downing Street Policy Unit as a policy advisor, for the Economist magazine as a financial writer, and for the World Bank as a development economist.

Carolyn is also a non executive director of the Financial Services Authority, chairman of Freesat and vice chair of the Royal Television Society. She holds a first class degree in economics from Cambridge University, an MA in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from INSEAD.
